Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defence and Military Production, General Mohamed Zaki, on Thursday witnessed the major part of a tactical live ammunition drill carried out by a Third Field Army unit, as part of the annual training plan of the Armed Forces formations and units.
Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Lieutenant General Usama Askr and commanders of main branches attended, together with senior military commanders and students of military academies and institutes.
Addressing the event, the Third Field Army commander stressed the continuous support by the Armed Forces General Command to the army, so that it would always remain ready to implement missions, and training activities, with the highest level of efficiency and combat readiness for the preservation of the nation and its sanctities.
For his part, Minister Zaki commended the distinguished level of the troops taking part in the drill, and their performance of the combat and fire missions.
Zaki conveyed greetings by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to the entire Third Army personnel.
Also on Thursday, the activities of the joint Egyptian-Sudanese training “Guard of the South-1” came to an end yesterday with the participation of Egyptian Border Guard Forces and the Sudanese Infantry elements, trained in border security tasks.
Conducted at the Mohamed Naguib Military Base, the exercise is part of the joint training plan of the armed forces of both friendly countries with the aim of honing the aspects of military partnership and supporting security and stability efforts in the region.
The final stage included a number of activities that represent the nature of work and tasks of the border guards and how to deal with them.
The stage also exhibited the distinguished level and field and combat skills reached by the elements participating in the training, and the extent of coordination and co-operation between the two sides.
