Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie met Sunday Belgian Ambassador in Cairo François Cornet d’Elzius to discuss co-operation.

Praising co-operation with the Brussels, Rabie said Belgian companies were instrumental in digging the new channel of the Suez Canal in 2016.

The Suez Canal Authority is keen on boosting co-operation with all partners in all fields, Rabie stressed.

He said the authority is always looking for continual and fruitful co-operation with the Belgian side.

Rabie welcomed a Belgian initiative to contribute items to be exhibited at the International Museum of the Suez Canal, which is still under construction.

The discussions with Ambassador d’Elzius focused on progress on a number of projects being implemented by the Suez Canal Authority.

Rabie urged Belgian companies to invest in some of the major projects of the Suez Canal, referring to promising investment opportunities in the region, especially after the launch and completion of a large number of infrastructure projects there.

Ambassador d’Elzius’ visit to Ismailia yesterday included a tour to the site of the International Museum of the Suez Canal.

He also visited the house of Ferdinand de Lesseps, the historical Library of Suez and the Suez Canal parallel channel.
