Bilateral relations and international developments were discussed during a phone call President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received from his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday.
President Zelensky said he is keen to coordinate and consult with President Sisi on various issues, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
He added that the Ukrainian leader said his country hopes to strengthen relations with Egypt in the coming period, especially in light of the Egypt’s pivotal role in laying the foundations of stability and security in the Middle East and Africa.
President Zelensky also praised Egypt’s success in stopping illegal immigration to Europe, Ambassador Radi said.
Meanwhile, President Sisi praised the momentum gained recently in relations between Cairo and Kyiv, the spokesman said.
He said Egypt also aspires to upgrade its relations with Ukraine in all fields in the coming period, especially in food industries, construction of wheat silos, ports, energy, and tourism.
Radi said the two leaders discussed ways to boost bilateral economic, investment and trade relations in addition to strengthening security co-operation between both countries. They also reviewed the latest developments in a number of regional and political issues of mutual interest.
