Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed Egypt’s firm stand supporting the Palestinian cause and the Palestinians’ rights.
Shoukry held a three-way meeting in Cairo with his Jordanian and Palestinian counterparts; Ayman Safadi and Riyad al Maliki respectively, before the start of the ministerial meeting of the Arab League Council.
Shoukry discussed with his counterparts the latest developments in the Palestinian cause and means of reviving the peace process and re-launching serious and constructive talks in order to reach a comprehensive and just settlement in line with the two-state solution which calls for establishing an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
Shoukry stressed that all regional and international parties concerned should play their role in securing proper climate for pushing forward the peace process in the coming period in order to achieve the aspired regional peace and stability.
Meanwhile, the Jordanian and Palestinian ministers voiced appreciation to the Egyptian initiative for rebuilding Gaza and supporting development in the Palestinian territories.
The conferees also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments and means of promoting Arab co-operation.
