The Egyptian Ministry of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs is in the process of launching a broad campaign to collect donations from Egyptians in the US and Canada to support a national project for developing the rural areas at home.
The campaign is slated to kick off in September, in coordination with the Planning Ministry and the Decent Life Foundation, according to a statement on Sunday.
Minister Nabila Makram, in a meeting via Zoom, reviewed the final preparations for the campaign, to be launched under the auspices of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, the statement added.
Ahmed Othman, an Egyptian doctor living in the US, expressed pleasure to take part in the meeting, commending efforts to develop health, education and infrastructure, as well as supporting women empowerment.
He also hailed the “Decent Life” presidential initiative, launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in 2019 to improve the living conditions of the rural communities.
The head of the Regional Planning Sector at the Ministry of Planning, Heba Mogheeb, stressed state’s keenness on investing in human resources, in a way that contributes to providing a decent life for the Egyptian people.
She said that the Ministry of Planning is keen to co-operate with other ministries and institutions concerned to improve basic services in rural areas nationwide.
