President of the German University in Cairo (GUC) Dr Ashraf Mansour received on Friday high school (Thanawiya Amma) top achievers at the university’s branch in Berlin. He welcomed the top students and said that he was happy to meet them in Germany. Mansour said that he will grant Egyptian university students, who will rank first, full and partial scholarships after spending one year in his university in Cairo.

He said that the top students can register on the university’s official website to obtain the scholarship after spending the first year in one of the Egyptian universities. The required specialisations are information engineering, architecture, and computer science.

Mansour said that the top achievers will benefit from the capabilities of the powerful and high-tech laboratories in the university.

“This gives them an opportunity to attend international conferences and present scientific research papers as we care about training and application to qualify the graduates for regional and global labour markets,” he said.

“We are located here in an industrial area and we have industrial partners in Siemens, Bosch, and Motorola,” President of the German International University in Berlin (GIU), Ralf Klischewski, said after welcoming the Egyptian top Thanawiya Amma students.

He said that a communications design programme has been created to bring together designers from all over the world in one workplace.

He said that the university has a societal role to play in Germany and in Cairo, through training 1,000 teachers in local schools, in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.

The GUC president said that the pioneers are a homeland because their success provides their nation with pride and progress. Mansour said that Al-Gomhouria newspaper has always supported the journey of the Thanawiya Amma top achievers over the course of 60 years, and we are happy to participate in this event.

The German University in Cairo has educational programmes in training teachers and qualifying students for work free of charge.

The GUC opened the Faculty of Physical Therapy in Tagamoa, Fifth Settlement, and we are now in the process of 700 or 800 full scholarships, Mansour said.

The top achievers toured the GIU, during which they inspected the laboratories, assignment halls, computer programming, and the Internet of Things laboratory.
