Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Wednesday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Lieutenant General Kamel el-Wazir, Minister of Transport, Engineer Mahmoud Essmat, Minister of Public Enterprise, Major General Mohamed Al-Sherif, Governor of Alexandria, Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Advisor to the President for Urban Planning, and Major General Nasser Fawzi, Director of the National Centre for Planning the Uses of the State’s Land.

Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy stated that the meeting dealt with following up on the plan to reform and develop public business sector companies and their affiliated assets nationwide. In this context, the president was briefed on the executive situation of a number of projects, including efforts to develop the sector’s textile and steel companies.

President Sisi also reviewed the progress in the implementation of a number of projects of the Ministry of Transport, especially the establishment and development of seaports and logistical corridors throughout the republic, including the Arish-Taba logistics corridor, which connects the ports of the Mediterranean and Red Seas, and links production areas with seaports, through dry ports and logistics areas.

This came within the framework of the state’s integrated plan to maximise the benefit of Egypt’s unique geographical location and develop the Egyptian port network.

The president gave directives regarding the continuation of intensive work to develop the network of ports and main roads, linking it to modern and multiple roads, axes, and means of transportation, and improve its connectivity with cities and industrial and logistical areas.

The president called for promoting the localisation of various industries in Egypt, which would contribute to the creation of more job opportunities for young people.
