The Ministry of Civil Aviation organised a preparatory workshop for the World Radiocommunication Conference with the participation of radiocommunications experts from 19 Arab and foreign countries, in coordination and co-operation with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
The workshop’s activities are scheduled to continue until September 8th.
The workshop aims to discuss navigational frequency administrations for the Middle East region and civil aviation Organisations’ amendments to the work manual for frequency spectrum requirements, define the future business plan and review the preparations for the upcoming World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23).
The preparatory workshop coincides with the seventeenth meeting of the Frequency Spectrum Experts Committee (FSMO-17), which is scheduled to be organised by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in coordination with the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, with the participation of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and the National Air Navigation Services Company.
Minister Helmy expressed his appreciation and welcome to Egypt’s participating guests from all Arab and foreign countries, noting that the workshop comes in appreciation of Egypt’s pivotal role in the field of civil aviation at the regional and global levels and praising the effective coordination between the Ministry of Aviation and the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
The agenda of the meeting included a general discussion of the items of the World Radiocommunication Conference and the most important policies related to modern technical systems at the international level, updating the radio regulations for the purposes of regulating the use of the radio frequency spectrum and regulating current practices and new challenges for managing air frequencies in the Middle East region, as well as a review of the most important issues related to fifth generation technologies and their impact.
