Egyptian Minister of Finance and Egypt’s governor at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Mohamed Maeet said on Monday that Egypt will speak on behalf of African countries during the eighth annual meetings of the ADB to be held in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh on September 25-26.
He said Egypt’s address at the gathering will tackle economic challenges and the development needs of the African peoples including means to pump more investments in the continent’s infrastructure given the economic challenges the continent is facing.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Finance said Egypt, as a founding member of the Asian bank, looks forward to strengthening partnership between Africa and Asia to achieve sustainable development goals.
He stressed the importance of the bank’s intention to allocate 50 per cent of its investments for the climate action by 2025 to push forward efforts of the green transition and expand eco-friendly and smart projects to curb gas emissions and overcome water scarcity problems.
