Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that development efforts have covered every and each corner of the nation, from Aswan in the south to El Salloum, northwest, over the past years.

The government has been working hard over the past 8 years to cover the entire nation, President Sisi said in remarks during an inspection tour in the Governorate of MersaMatrouh, northwest of the country on Wednesday. The tour included Matrouh, Sidi Barrani and El Salloum.

President Sisi said the state was able to solve the water problem that Matrouh governorate had been suffering from for 7 years.

During his meeting with heads of tribes and people of Matrouh, Sisi said that this problem have been solved, within a framework of a plan to desalinate water and provide it to coastal cities on the Mediterranean.

the president stressed that the government and people are able to overcome the economic challenge, adding that an integrated road network is being implemented across Matrouh governorate.

The state in Egypt has had no hand in the double crisis that hit the country, namely the Covid -19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, and their repercussions,President Sisi told Matrouh citizens during his tour there.

The current circumstances in Egypt have been the result of no irrational measure or decision on the side of the state, the president said, noting that over the past 10 years the state has been very keen to avoid any risk that might bring about unfavorable outcome for the Egyptian people.

The present circumstances are but one of the many challenges facing the Egyptian state, the president said. He cited the challenge of terrorism, which the country faced since 2011, as well as the state of instability that came to an end thanks to Egyptians’ efforts and blood. He also referred to a broad development programme for the people of Sinai Peninsula.

President Sisi said that all the development work in Matrouh governorate is only a step in a major development plan.

The port of Jarjoub- about 70km west of Matrouh – part of which was opened, will benefit the people in the governorate, and provide new job opportunities, the president said.

The cities of Alamein and Ras al-Hekma, as well as other projects set up on the North Coast will lead to a broad trade and economic boom, create industrial zones, schools, universities and hospitals. He also referred to the main road to Matrouh, which will be extended to the borders with Libya.

President Sisi also referred to the hard economic circumstances and the soaring prices, saying that the state is working as hard as ever to alleviate the impact through programmes that are being carried out considering “citizens with hard conditions”.

He also stressed that Egypt faced colossal challenges over the past decades, and was able to overcome them all, citing the 1967 defeat, which the country could get through with the 1973 victory.

President Sisi was accorded warm and joyful popular reception by the people in Matrouh, Sidi Barrani and El-Salloum.Matrouhchildren welcomed the president with songs and expressed joy over his visit to the governorate.

In the meantime, President Sisi inspected the joint army-police checkpoint at the Land Border Crossing of El-Ssalloum with Libya. Elements at the checkpoint voiced readiness to carry out any task assigned to them, with the highest morale.
