Sisi reviews progress of gov’t relocation to NAC

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Tuesday called for continuous commitment to the highest standards of quality, safety and technology in the all works and projects being implemented in the New Administrative Capital. He also stressed the importance of regular assessment of traffic within the capital to ensure fluidity and efficiency in light of the steady growth of the movement of citizens and the economic and commercial activity in the capital.

The President’s remarks came during his meeting with a host of senior government officials to follow up the executive situation of business development in the New Administrative Capital, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.

The President also reviewed the progress of relocation of ministries and government agencies to the New Administrative Capital.

Over 100 government agencies, including 30 ministries and numerous affiliated agencies, have already moved to carry out their work from the capital, with up to 40,000 employees and workers.

In this context, the President also discussed the progress of the ongoing works in various sectors in the capital, including utilities, roads, axes, residential neighborhoods, and commercial and economic areas.

President Sisi also reviewed developments in the revenue growth of the New Administrative Capital Company and emphasised that it did not and will not place any burdens on the state coffers, but rather achieves large revenues for the state in addition to paying the due taxes to the state treasury.

He added that revenue will also be used developing infrastructure, equipping lands and buildings and attracting local and foreign private investment.

The meeting also dealt with the company’s societal role, especially in light of the initiative sponsored by the President to allocate a number of scholarships for outstanding students from Upper Egypt in various international universities in the New Administrative Capital, in line with the state’s policy of giving all groups the opportunity to access the best available services.
