Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maeet said he is looking forward to promoting strategic and development co-operation with the US in various domains, especially the economic one.
He made the remarks during a meeting on Tuesday with US Chargé d’Affaires John P. Desrocher.
Maeet highlighted the depth of bilateral strategic ties in various domains, stressing keenness on enhancing efforts to boost joint investments.
He urged foreign investors, especially the Americans, to benefit from promising opportunities in Egypt in the production, infrastructure and digital transformation projects.
He referred to the measures taken to lure foreign investments, especially the establishment of the Supreme Council for Investment as well as the issuance of the golden license, and the State Ownership Policy Document.
He noted that Egypt seeks to boost its exports to hit $100 billion in the coming period.
He stressed commitment to downing debt rate to less than 80 per cent by 2026-2027 despite of international economic challenges.
He noted that Egypt achieved a primary surplus during the fiscal year that ended in June 2022, amounting to 1.3 per cent of GDP and seeks to up this figure to 2.5 per cent in the coming fiscal year.
