In order to strengthen Egyptian identity, promote the Arabic language, said veteran media figure Sanaa Mansour.

“The media should take a deeper interest in their Arabic output while the arts are also a powerful medium to inculcate the principles of loyalty to the country,” Mansour, told The Egyptian Gazette during the Egyptian Identity session of the National Dialogue.

The Ministry of Culture can play its part through international festivals to preserve the Egyptian identity.

MP Dina Abdelkarim, who sits on the parliamentary Coordination of Parties, Youth and Politicians’ Committee, spoke of the importance of enhancing the role of women in political life.

“A woman should be cultured and educated to bring up creative children,” Abdelkarim said, adding that renewing religious discourse is a crucial step to preserve national identity.

For his part, Political Officer at the Japanese Embassy Ri Korihara said he was pleased to be participating in the National Dialogue, a compass to point the way to preservation of national identity and development of the concept of the New Republic.
