Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammed Samer Khalil asserted the importance of achieving food security for the Arab peoples in light of the current extraordinary conditions at the international arena especially the economic and political ones.
Addressing the meetings of the Arab Economic and Social Council in preparation for the Arab Summit, scheduled for May 19 in Jeddah, the Syrian minister voiced thanks and appreciation for Algeria over its efforts during its presidency of the Arab summit which resulted in taking a large number of decisions to boost the joint Arab action.
He also greeted Saudi Arabia over hosting the current session of the Arab summit, wishing Riyadh the best of luck in achieving the targeted goals.
The Syrian minister also extended thanks to several countries which sent aid to Syria in the wake of the devastating quake that hit the country on February 6, calling on the Arab countries to invest in Syria to benefit from its current promising opportunities for investment. He also highlighted the new laws introduced by his country to lure in investments in the various domains.
Khalil also highlighted the importance of the Pan Arab Free Trade Area (PAFTA) to meet the citizens’ needs and secure the necessary materials needed for any projects or investments, adding that Syria was fully ready for talks on boosting joint investment and achieve development for all parties.
