Egypt’s permanent representative to the Arab League (AL) Mohamed Moustafa Orfy said on Monday that the Palestinian problem is the central Arab cause.
Addressing a ceremony to commemorate Nakba Day and Prisoner’s Day at the AL HQ, Orfy said the event is meant to renew intention to support the Palestinian cause.
It is cross-cultural, cross-racial and cross-religious, the diplomat said.
Social media networking has helped create a common culture among new generations and segments from different parts of the world, Orfy told the gathering.
This new reality could develop global momentum that is much needed to solve the Palestinian problem as hoped, he noted.
This means the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, Orfy said.
He added that it also means finding a just solution to the Palestinian refugees’ problem.
Orfy also paid tribute to Palestinian martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of Palestine.
