Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will take part virtually in all works of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD8), to be held in Tunis on August 27-28, said the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Wednesday.
Kishida has tested positive for Covid-19, according to a statement by the Japanese government.
The prime minister asserted his country’s keenness on rendering the conference a success, the statement said.
The conference offers an important opportunity for probing the future of strategic partnership between Africa and Japan and mechanisms for boosting it and ensuring its sustainability, he added in the statement.
