The Arab League in co-operation with the European Union will organised a workshop on February 27 on the role of media and governments at the times of crises and conflicts.
In statements on Tuesday, Director of the Crises Follow-up Department at the Arab League Samia Bibares said the workshop comes as part of deepening the strategic partnership between the Arab League and the European Union in the fields of early warning and response to crises.
The workshop aims at providing media figures and policy makers with a platform to engage in constructive dialogues on the sound media coverage to prevent the outbreak of crises and ease the burden of conflicts, she explained.
Bibares also shed light on the key role of media before, during and at the times of crises as well as the efforts exerted by government officials and media bodies to actively contribute in settling conflicts and avoid hardline discourse at such times.
A galaxy of media figures from Arab and European states, prominent media institutions along with academics and representatives of regional and international organisations will attend the workshop.
