Egypt Post is hosting in Luxor city the meetings of the Board of Directors of the Euro-Med Postal Union and the fifteenth General Assembly of the Union, with the participation of 16 member states; namely, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Monaco, Palestine, Slovenia, Spain, Jordan, Libya, Syria and Turkey.
Postal dignitaries, headed by Mr Masahiko Mitoki, Director General of the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), are attending the meetings.
For his part, Dr Sherif Farouk, Board Chairman of Egypt Post, said: “These meetings are of paramount importance; hence their successes in dealing with many important pivotal issues related to the future of postal work and the challenges it faces around the world.
“They (the meetings) also provide fertile atmosphere for tackling aspects of joint co-operation between Arab and European postal administrations in a way that meets the hopes and aspirations of customers, and the exchange of experiences and knowledge between the countries of the north and south of the Mediterranean,” he also said.
Dr Farouk explained that these meetings represent an appropriate opportunity to discuss issues related to Egypt Post with the various member states and provide an opportunity to enhance cooperation and exchange of experiences between all postal administrations participating in the fields of providing postal services through the establishment of a solidarity action mechanism.
“The hosting of these meetings by Egypt is considered an affirmation of the pioneering role of Egypt Post on the regional and global arena,” Dr Farouk noted.
For his part, Masahiko Mitoki, UPU Director General, praised the development achieved by Egypt Post at all levels, foremost of which are quality of service, digital transformation, while committing to providing a comprehensive postal service.
“Egypt Post is a model for many countries to follow suit,” he concluded.
