EgyptAir operated last Wednesday the first international flight from Sphinx International Airport, No. MS3910, with its latest Airbus A320neo, to transport members of the Board of Directors of the Almeria Sports Spanish Club to Almeria city. The delegation arrived in Egypt on a special flight No. MS004 to visit the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, and other attractions in Cairo.
Located west of Cairo, the new LE300 million Sphinx airport is anticipated to hold great touristic importance due to its proximity to the Giza Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, and other historic areas in Cairo and Giza.
The operation of the EgyptAir flight to and from Sphinx International Airport came after completing development work at the airport last November and the increase of its capacity to 1.2 million passengers annually.
The airport is equipped with modern air control, an Instrument Landing System, Distance Measuring Equipment, and high-efficiency security devices. These devices include x-ray passenger and cargo inspection devices, the latest thermal surveillance cameras, and automatic fire alarms.
