The Italian Embassy in Cairo is to celebrate Italian Design Day with a special exhibition of Italian design furniture.
The exhibition will open on Thursday at the Manasterly Palace, Roda Island.
Italian Design Day is a project supported by the ministry of foreign affairs for the integrated promotion of the excellence of Italian design at international level.
It has been made an annual event since 2017 in several cities around the world.
Italy’s embassies, consular offices, Italian cultural institutes and offices of the Italian Trade Agency organise the as part of the ‘Vivere all’Italiana promotion.
The theme for this year is ‘Project and materials: new challenges for the sustainable recovery of Made in Italy’.
This is linked to the need for innovation and sustainability for the sake of economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic.
“In this challenging context, Italian designers have proven capable of maintaining their competitive preeminence, combining new technologies with a unique sense of style,” said a statement by the Italian embassy in Cairo.
Some 36 Italian interior design brands, represented by 13 Egyptian importers and distributors, are taking part in this year’s Italian Design Day in Cairo.
The event will be inaugurated by the Italian Ambassador to Egypt Giampaolo Cantini will open the event and Mrs Sawsan Morad, chief editor of El-Beit magazine will make an introduction.
