CAIRO – Egyptian Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Mohamed Abdel Aati said the ministry started to carry out initial surveys to implement the second phase of the protection plan for El-Obayed shore in Marsa Matrouh governorate.
The minister detailed in a statement Thursday that the protection process is made under the supervision of the Egyptian General Authority for Shores Protection.
The protection process includes the construction of 20 barriers to protect El-Obayed area and its new corniche for a 4-kilometer distance.
The second phase is set to be accomplished in May, 2024.
The minister added that such development projects aim to counter the negative effects of the climate changes.
