CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem has received an official invitation from the Scottish parliament and the governments of the UK and Scotland to attend the sixth edition of the Edinburgh International Culture Summit due to be held on August 26-28.
The invitation was delivered by a delegation of the British Cultural Council during a meeting with the minister on Wednesday.
The minister said the invitation reaffirms the importance of Egypt’s civilization regionally and internationally, pointing out that the meeting dealt with the desire of the two sides to co-operate in many cultural projects.
She added that culture is Egypt’s soft power to communicate with the world, saying that the invitation comes months before the climate change conference (COP27) due to be held in November in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.
The delegation members expressed happiness at Egypt’s participation in the cultural event along with 35 countries representing various continents.
The Edinburgh International Culture Summit is the world’s leading gathering attended by Culture Ministers, artists and practitioners.
