An exhibition called “Japanese Design Today 100” is currently taking place at the AUC’s Tahrir Culture Centre in Cairo until January 9.
This edition of the exhibition is being held outside Japan for the first time, as reported by Ayumi Hashimoto, the Director of Japan Foundation.
The exhibition comprises 100 items, most of which were created after the year 2000, along with some masterpieces from the post-World War II era, which trace the origins of contemporary Japanese design.
According to Hashimoto, the design of products, systems, and services can reveal the development of lifestyles and societies.
The “Japanese Design Today 100″ was initially launched in 2004 and toured the world for the next decade. The second edition of the exhibition was created in 2013 and began touring the following year.
The third edition, which is currently being held at AUC, brings together the most exceptional examples of Japanese design from a present-day perspective.
