Some 58 students from eleven African countries have been admitted this year to the Egyptian-Japanese University for Science and Technology (E-JUST).

“The students were offered scholarships for postgraduate studies,” E-JUST President Prof. Ahmed el-Gohary said.

E-JUST has allocated 150 scholarships (50 every year) for African students in science, technology and innovation to support development in the continent, el-Gohary added.

These scholarships are funded by the governments of Egypt and Japan, covering the air tickets, living expenses and accommodation here, as well as tuition fees.

For his part, E-JUST First Vice President for Regional and International Affairs, Prof. Suzuki Masaki explained that 3.674 students from 34 African countries applied for the E-JUST scholarships through the university’s official website.

Some 450 students completed their papers, and only 58 students from Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, South Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Cameroon, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, were accepted.

The university aims through these scholarships to serve African students and support development projects in the continent, Prof. Suzuki added.

The scholarships cover the latest majors in electronics and communications, electrical power engineering, computer science and engineering (CSE) and robotics, industrial engineering and systems management, materials science and engineering, energy resource engineering, environmental engineering, chemical and petrochemical engineering, nanoscience, biotechnology, mathematics and materials energy, and space environment.
