Egypt’s Minister of International Co-operation Rania al-Mashat held two meetings on Thursday with Moussa Sanago, Minister of Budget of Côte d’Ivoire, and Adama Coulibaly, Minister for Finance and Economy, in the presence of Wael Badawy, Egyptian Ambassador in Abidjan.
The meetings were held on the sidelines of the Africa CEO Forum in Côte d’Ivoire.
Discussions focused on means of boosting regional economic co-operation and integration between African countries amid global food security concerns and climate change.
Egypt’s international co-operation is based on the values of win-win situation and mutual benefit, al-Mashat said, adding that the exchange of knowledge and sharing successful development models can be replicated in Cote d’Ivoire and other African countries within the framework of South-South co-operation.
Egypt has played a key role in boosting Africa’s development, being the founding member of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and is currently leading efforts to host the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) on behalf of the African continent to mobilise climate finance, al-Mashat said.
El-Mashat invited the Ivorian ministers of economy and budget to participate in the Egypt- International Co-operation Forum, which will aim to unite Africa’s voice and discuss mutual plans ahead of COP27 to ensure that a clear common ground is established.
For his part, Minister of Budget Moussa Sanogo hailed Egypt’s achievements in boosting multilateralism and international co-operation in the current global context.
He also expressed hope to participate in the Egypt-International Co-operation Forum and the COP27 conference, particularly in light of the country’s interest to host the 15th session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP15) in Abidjan.
Minister of Economy and Finance Adama Coulibaly also underscored his interest as an African country to enhance development co-operation with Egypt.
