Egypt is paying utmost attention to the water issue, which is demonstrated through conserving, developing and effective management of resources, Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy Bassam Radi has said.
Radi made his remarks during his speech at the 43rd Ministerial Conference of the Food and and Agricultural Organization (FAO) Ministerial Conference held in Rome from July 1-7.
Egypt launched a strategy for the management of its water resources (2021-2025) and has been keen on connecting water security and climate change by discussing the issue with international partners at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El Sheikh last year.
“World countries are struggling against the repercussions of Covid-19 crisis, and the Russian –Ukranian conflict, both leaving negative impact on food security, as they led to disruption of supply chains, and an unprecedented hike in prices of good, and produce,” Radi said.
He added that Egypt has adopted several initiatives to achieve food security and tackle challenges pertaining to water security and climate change.
Radi also referred to the presidential Decent Life initiative, which he described as “project of the century, aiming to improve the living conditions of about 60 million Egyptians, mainly in rural areas.
