CAIRO – Veteran journalist and sports critic Ibrahim Hegazy passed away Monday morning after a struggle with illness.
Hegazy, who is also a Senate member, will be laid to rest today noon after funeral prayers at Al Farouq Mosque in Maadi district of Cairo.
Hegazy had graduated from the High Institute of Physical Education in 1967. In 1975, Hegazy joined the Al Ahram Foundation, and in 1990 he successfully launched Al Ahram Sports magazine and became its editor in chief.
He also worked as a host for a number of TV shows, such as “In The Spotlight”.
Throughout his media career, Hegazy could also provide a detailed explanation of the October War Victory in 1973, in which he had taken part.
