Walid Gamal Eddin started acting as new head of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) on Friday , in the light of a presidential decree.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued decree no. 356/2022 for the appointment of Gamal Eddin as head of the economic zone for a year.
Gamal Eddin used to be the executive head of the General Authority for the SCZone from January 2020.
He was then promoted to deputy head of the authority for investment and promotion affairs.
Gamal Eddin has an extensive investment and executive experience, along with a distinguished banking and management record.
The SCZone General Authority strives to localise industries and increase its competitive edge on the international
scene, within its 2020/2025 strategy.
Among other things, the authority works to expand the green hydrogen industry locally.
This coincides with the preparations Egypt makes to host the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), slated in Sharm el-Sheikh in November.
