CAIRO- Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud asserted the support Somalia is receiving from Egypt is “support from the heart” and boosts historical ties binding the two countries.
Egypt’s support for Somalia helps achieve joint interests in the region and worldwide, Mahmoud added during a joint press conference with President Abdel Fattah El SiSi at Ittihadiya Palace Monday.
The Somali president affirmed Egyptians sacrificed their lives for Somalia to support the country to get independence.
Mahmoud commended depth and strength of historical relations between Egypt and Somalia over the past
centuries in the economic and security fields and the provision of social services.
He said Egypt stood by Somalia over the past three decades to help the country on the right track despite all difficulties and problems it faced.
He paid tribute to Egypt’s big support to Somalia, especially in security and social services, praising Egypt’s main contributions to rebuilding Somalia.
The Somali leader thanked president Sisi and Egyptian people for this sustainable support for Somalia’s rights.
