Aswan- Egyptian Minister of Social Solidairty Nevine el-Qabbah witnessed on Sunday the alignment of sailboats to showcase the slogans of the Awareness for Community Development programme, which addresses 13 main social and cultural issues. Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, and Mr Alessandro Fracassetti, representative of the United Nations Development Programme were present.
The issues addressed by the Awareness for Community Development programme, funded by the European Union and the UNDP, include economic empowerment, education, literacy, maternal and child health, positive family upbringing, combating child labor, early detection of disabilities, combating illegal migration, population growth, female genital mutilation, child marriage, hygiene and public health, drug control, citizenship, and respect for religious and cultural diversity.
Minister Qabbag is on a current to review soicla issues with local and global partners. .
The awareness campaigns provided by the programme and success stories of social activists were reviewed, along with a presentation of a play addressing key social issues.
Furthermore, Ministet Qabbag and Ambassador Christian Berger, Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt, held a meeting with civil society organizations in Aswan to discuss the most prevalent social, developmental, and cultural issues in Aswan Governorate.
The step is meant to support the implementation of development programmes, including relief efforts for Sudanese guests in Egypt following the Sudanese crisis, key challenges, future trends, family planning efforts, and services for people with disabilities.
The partnership with the World Food Programme to support the needs of Sudanese siblings in Egypt will also be launched.
