Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday convened a meeting to follow up on existing as well as future programmes aiming to push ahead the efforts of community development for Egyptians in Sinai, as part of the national strategy for comprehensive development of the peninsula.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Defence and Military Production Minister General Mohamed Zaki, Social Solidarity Minister Nevine al-Qabbag and Local Development Minister Hesham Amna attended the meeting. Also attending were the Advisor to the General Commander of the Armed Forces, Major General Staff Sayyed Harhour, and Military Intelligence Acting Chief, Major General Staff Mehrez Abdel-Wahab.
President Sisi was briefed on the key efforts of community development of citizens in the Sinai, which include boosting social protection initiatives, and providing job opportunities for the achieving economic empowerment based on medium, small and micro enterprises in fields that enjoy comparative advantage, as well as improving health services, Presidency Spokesman Fahmy said.
During the meeting, President Sisi gave directives for the formulation of an advanced and integrated path that state be aimed to follow in implementing the Sinai development strategy, the spokesman said.
The aspired path, President Sisi underlined in his directives, should include boosting investment in human capital to support the Sinai community at all levels through cohesive action and coordination between all state bodies concerned, Spokesman Fahmy said.
