CAIRO- Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the bodies concerned to maintain the precise implementation of “Egypt’s Future” agricultural production project, in line with the course of ongoing urban development efforts and the expected subsequent growth in trade and transport activities.
Sisi made the directives during a meeting to follow on the progress of the project, located along the road to the 120-km-long new Rawd El-Farag-El-Dabaa axis, in the presence of Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning Amir Sayed Ahmed and Executive Director of the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority Bahaa El-Ghannam.
Sisi said the New Delta project generally seeks to increase the area of cultivated land to help bridge the gap in strategic crops, achieve food security and create thousands of jobs in various sectors to promote the State’s comprehensive development efforts.
The meeting tackled the efforts under way to implement the project’s various components, including land reclamation, establishing silos and storage facilities, and agro-industrial activities aimed at maximizing added value of agricultural production, according to a statement by Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.
Sisi was also briefed on the efforts made to make the optimum use of modern technologies, including state-of-the-art irrigation and agricultural mechanization systems, to serve the project goals.
