PARIS – Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed on Wednesday with Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the CMA CGM Group Rodolphe Saadé and a number of the company’s senior officials means of expanding the company’s activities in Egypt in the coming period.
In statements, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said that President Sisi reviewed the existing cooperation with the French company in the field of navigation, ports and maritime transport, topped by the operation and management of “Tahya Misr” multi-purpose terminal in Alexandria Port that was recently inaugurated in the presence of President Sisi.
President Sisi asserted Egypt’s keenness on shoring up cooperation with the French company that represents an added value and a qualitative leap in developing Alexandria Port in a way that enhances the port’s activity at the regional and international levels via applying international standards in the port operation, along with benefiting from its experience to raise the international classification of Egyptian ports in the fields of logistics and trade, the spokesman further noted.
For his part, the CEO of CMA CGM lauded the business climate in Egypt, which is witnessing rapid positive development, stressing the company’s keenness on strengthening cooperation with the Egyptian side in managing additional ports, including the operation of logistics areas and terminals, in light of the major development projects being implemented in Egypt.
These projects represent a great opportunity and a promising market to receive major foreign companies to invest in Egypt in various domains, he added.
