Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Thursday directed the government to speed up the pace of completing the industrial complexes being constructed nationwide, and start work on building new ones, particularly for the production of industrial supplies, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
This will help localise industries, meet the local needs, and achieve self-sufficiency and support the national economy in the first place, President Sisi added.
President Sisi made the remarks during a meeting attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Finance Minister Mohamed Maeet, Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea, and Chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Major General Ihab el-Far.
The meeting followed up the progress of industrial complexes being built across the nation, as well as efforts to support and incentivise industrial activities, Ambassador Radi noted.
Minister Gamea, for her part, reviewed the executive situation of the completion of the construction of industrial complexes, and the study of adding new ones.
She reviewed the major steps and measures, in coordination with other ministries and concerned state bodies, especially the finance ministry to boost the performance of key industrial sectors.
The minister also referred to the ongoing efforts to remove obstacles, with a special focus on activating the role of Industrial Modernisation Centre programmes, which seek to promote factories and the industrial facilities to meet the needs of the local market from primary production supplies and intermediate goods.
In addition, the meeting addressed the overall review and accurate inventory of the plots of land allocated for industrial activities, and their optimum utilisation in light of the investment and development needs of each governorate.
