Cairo- Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi praised the strong historical relations between Egypt and Jordan, the brotherly bonds of friendship and common destiny between the two countries and peoples as well as the identity of views and positions regarding grave challenges taking place in the region.
The President’s remarks came as he received Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah in Cairo on Tuesday, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and a host of ministers.
During the meeting, the President praised Crown Prince Hussein’s participation in several sessions of the World Youth Forum. He stressed Egypt’s keenness to strengthen this important forum as it provides an opportunity for the Egyptian young to embark in dialogue and learn about the mega national projects the state is implementing. It also enables them to meet with state officials and interact with their Arab and foreign counterparts.
For his part, Crown Prince Hussein expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s leadership and people, noting that Jordan welcomes to the existing level of joint coordination between both countries in dealing with various regional crises, which threaten the security and stability of the Arab peoples.
He also praised, in this context, Egypt’s pivotal role in serving Arab causes and its efforts to strengthen Arab solidarity.
President Sisi and Crown Prince Hussein discussed ways to enhance aspects of bilateral cooperation, especially with regard to cooperation in the fields of tourism, economy, trade exchange and small and medium enterprises as well as issues of combating terrorism and extremist ideology.
They reviewed the experience of the two countries in the field of empowering women and youth and discussed ways to exchange expertise in this regard.
President Sisi and Jordan’s Crown Prince reviewed the current efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the reconstruction of the Strip.
The two sides agreed on the importance of working to revive the peace process in order to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause in a way that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with the principle of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The two sides also stressed the importance of uniting Arab efforts to address the crises in some countries of the region, especially Libya and Syria, as part of respect for their sovereignty and unity and with the aim of ending the human suffering of their peoples.
They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation with Iraq as part of the tripartite cooperation mechanism asit provides an appropriate opportunity to exchange visions on issues and challenges of common concern.
They renewed their condemnation of the failed assassination attempt against the Iraqi prime minister. They expressed full support for Iraq’s stability and for its war against terrorism.
