Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday congratulated the leadership and people of Qatar on the success of the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the launch of the tournament in an honourable manner befitting the status of Arab countries.
The president’s remarks came in a phone call with Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday morning before leaving the Qatari capital of Doha, Presidency Spokesman Bassam Radi said.
During the call, the president expressed appreciation for the hospitality and good reception, stressing the depth of the historical relations between the two countries.
For his part, the Emir of Qatar expressed sincere gratitude and appreciation for the Egyptian leader’s presence at the opening ceremony of the World Cup and his visit as a dear guest to Doha, thereby consolidating the strength of fraternal relations between the two countries, especially given the positive development that these relations have witnessed at all levels during the recent period.
