South Sinai Governor Khalid Fouda on Thursday met with Belgian Ambassador in Cairo François Cornet d’Elzius in Sharm el-Sheikh to discuss co-operation.
Talks focused on relations between Egypt and Belgium and co-operation in a number of fields, especially tourism.
Ambassador d’Elzius is currently spending his vacation in the Red Sea resort.
Ambassador d’Elzius praised the tremendous development of the city, citing security and the hospitable nature of its people and workers.
He said he always prefers to travel to Sharm el-Sheikh by land, speaking highly of the new roads to the city and cutting journey times.
These roads would ease travel to this Red Sea resort, especially for Belgian tourists who arrive in Cairo first, the envoy said.
Fouda also invited Ambassador d’Elzius and his family to visit the Sharm el-Sheikh Museum.
At the end of the visit, the governor presented the Belgian ambassador his governorate’s Shield of Honour as well as some souvenirs.
The governor also presented the ambassador a book titled ‘Belgium on the Banks of the Nile’ by a Belgian writer.
The book, Governor Fouda said, is an expression of strong ties between Egypt and Belgium.
