Russian Ambassador in Cairo Georgiy Borisenko said Tuesday that his country is acting to upgrade relations with Egypt.
In a statement on facebook to mark Russian Diplomat Day, Borisenko said Moscow views Egyptian friends as very important economic partners and allies on the international arena.
He hailed as “close” cooperation between the two countries, especially where infrastructure projects are concerned. The diplomat cited the project to build a nuclear power station in Dabaa.
Borisenko said he greatly appreciates attention paid by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry to enhance cooperation with Russia, believing foreign, economic and cultural policies would be promoted through joint efforts.
He put the volume of trade exchange between Moscow and Cairo during 2021 at five billion dollars, which is 10-percent higher than the year before.
