The Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity Nivine Qabbag asserted Egypt has a strategy, which was established by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, to achieve comprehensive development nationwide and raise living standards of citizens in all walks of life.
Qabbag told MENA on Thursday that President Sisi ordered to alleviate poverty rates and pay a greater attention to social protection files along with poor and needy families.
Qabbag’s remarks came on the sidelines of the 77th round of the Executive Office of the Arab Social Affairs Ministers Council, currently in session in the Jordanian capital Amman.
She said the State is offering financial support to up to five million families or nearly 22 million persons, which, she added is an unprecedented figure not only in Egypt, but in the Arab region at large.
Qabbag pointed out President Sisi is always talking about health and educational rights and the State developed various social protection programmes.
A law for the elderly is expected to see daylight at the current parliamentary session for the first time ever in Egypt to fully protect rights of the elderly, she revealed.
Efforts are as well focused on economic empowerment programmes that contribute to carrying out various microprojects and stimulate local economic activities, according to her.
President Sisi directed to provide an exceptional package of social protection and lay down initiatives to protect citizens’ dignity, with special focus on the most vulnerable segments in society, said the Egyptian official.
Qabbag said the meeting in Amman discussed the upcoming Arab summit, slated for November 1-2 in Algeria and the next conference in New York city.
On Egyptian-Jordanian cooperation in solidarity, Qabbag said the country has a co-operation protocol with Jordan in several domains.
