CAIRO – Tim Scott Bolton, the painter of Prince Charles of Wales, accompanied the heir to the British throne and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall during their tour of Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo on Thursday, to document this historic royal visit to the world’s beacon of Sunni Islamic learning.
Prince Charles, who paid his first visit to Al-Azhar Mosque in 2006, is keen to document important moments in his life through brushes and colours.
The British royal family’s member started drawing in the 1970s after being inspired by Robert Waddell, professor of art at Gordonston School in Scotland.
Prince Charles paintings were first displayed at Windsor Castle in 1977, alongside artwork by Queen Victoria.
