Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli underlined the depth of the historical relations between Egypt and Germany in various domains, especially the economic ones.
About 1,600 German companies are operating in Egypt and participate in a number of important projects, he said, voicing hope to up trade exchange between the two countries, currently standing at 6 billion euros.
He made the remarks during a meeting Wednesday evening with Olaf Hoffmann, President of the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The meeting was attended by Ministers Sherif Fathi of tourism and Hassan Khatib of investment as well as Khaled Hanafi, a member of the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers.
The premier commended Hoffman’s re-election as the president of the chamber, highlighting the importance of the chamber’s delegation visit to Egypt in light of the recent visit by the German president to Cairo which was the first by a German president in 25 years.
The prime minister expressed happiness over meeting a number of German companies during a ceremony organized by the German embassy in Cairo.
During the meeting, the tourism minister said Egypt receives about 1.5 million German tourists annually, lauding cooperation between the two countries in this domain.
The investment minister underlined the importance of continued contacts between the two countries, referring to the incentives offered by Egypt to investors in various spheres, especially auto industry and new and renewable energy.
For his part, Hoffman underlined the depth of the Egyptian-German relations, underlining the importance of localizing the auto industry.
Khaled Hanafi, the chamber member and the chief of the Union of Arab Chambers, underlined that the chamber seeks to have strategic partnerships through promoting investments in Egypt in a number of industries meeting the needs of the markets in Egypt and neighboring countries.
He added that there are promising investment opportunities in the tourism domain.
