The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el-Mulla stressed the necessity of reaching a comprehensive, integrated approach to developing solutions such as clean and renewable energy in order to help overcome the global energy crisis.
Molla made the remarks as part of a speech he delivered on the Biodiversity Day at the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) currently held in Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.
One of the prominent solutions to the energy crisis that is gaining global momentum is renewable hydrogen and its derivatives, the minister said, noting that it can contribute significantly to achieving the goals of decarbonisation and energy security.
It also represents an opportunity for industrial co-operation, economic growth and generating job opportunities, he added.
Molla noted that co-operation between Egypt and the European Union has developed over the years, stressing that relevant efforts have been made by the two sides for the benefit of their peoples.
