CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi discussed with Australian Ambassador to Egypt Axel Wabenhorst ways of boosting co-operation and attracting investments of Australian companies in mining fields.

Both sides also tackled means to boost joint co-operation in the domains of petroleum and gas.

In statements on Tuesday, Badawi said the Egyptian mining sector is acting to lure further investments and attract more companies, especially Australian companies for mining.

The minister underscored the importance of developing mining exploitation contracts to encourage and stimulate investors

He called for holding a meeting for investors and Australian companies to learn more about chances and mechanisms for pumping investments in the mining sector in Egypt.

The ministry seeks to provide more advanced programs to hone the skills of mining cadres, according to him.

The Australian diplomat underlined the importance of scaling up co-operation with Egypt, particularly in mining, hydrogen and new energy.

Australian companies for mining are very interested in investing in Egypt, he added.
