CAIRO – Egyptian Petroleum Minister Tarek el-Mulla had talks on Monday with a delegation of Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) under general manager for energy infrastructure projects Tokuji Koyama.
The talks tackled a study prepared by the TTC to assess potential co-operation opportunities with the petroleum sector for producing blue ammonia in Egypt as a low-carbon energy source.
In statements on Monday, Mulla underlined the importance of the study which is part of a memorandum of understanding signed between TTC and the Egyptian holding companies for natural gases and petrochemicals.
The study reviewed means of depending on carbon capture technology at Misr Fertilizers Production (MOPCO) and Abu Qir Fertilisers and Chemicals Industries Company.
The study called for establishing a new line in one of the two companies for producing ammonia.
Mulla stressed the importance of conducting more studies in the coming period to stand on means of rendering the project successful.
