The National Alliance for Civil Development Work (NACDW) is an outside-the-box experiment offering support for the neediest categories and providing them with health and educational services as well as work opportunities – without burdening the state budget.
Furthermore, the alliance helps shore up state resources through boosting agriculture and animal wealth to promote dairy products.
Within a year, the alliance has made many successes and it is expected to accomplish more within the coming period by increasing its internal and external finances.
The alliance was launched in March last year to ensure effective engagement of civil society institutions in developing communities and meeting their legitimate needs for health and education services. The alliance comprises more than 30 associations, civil society organisations, and service and developmental entities. The alliance has had a major role in enriching civil work and provided an opportunity for partnership between civil society institutions to support those most in need.
The alliance is working to achieve these noble goals as we usher in a new republic founded on building the character of the Egyptian citizen and protecting their rights.
For the last ten months, the alliance has offered farmers financial and awareness services, contributing to increased supplies of wheat and soya beans. The alliance has also helped improve breeds of cattle, thereby raising meat and dairy production.
As for its contribution to the health field, the alliance has offered surgeries, check-ups and medication free of charge for the most needy.
According to official data, the alliance has targeted 30 million people at a total cost of LE12 million. It has offered health services for 5 million, and social services for 30 million. It has also provided decent housing for 54 million people, and jobs for 140,000. The models introduced by the alliance during its first conference with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi last Monday inspire hope for a bright future for all. The conference highlighted the alliance’s efforts and presented examples of its beneficiaries who have been found jobs and others agricultural production has increased.
Those successes achieved by the National Alliance for Civil Work should give an impetus to other civil associations to achieve more in the field of civil work, tailoring their programmes to the needs of the nation and support the most needy groups.
The civil associations in alliance are working sincerely on carrying out the vision of President Sisi and develop their services as part of the nation’s development. The alliance, as the presidency’s spokesman Bassam Radi said, represents a cornerstone of state development and a support for the government’s social protection network. Its efforts integrate with the work of both the privatesector and the government for social development and better public services nationwide.
