CAIRO- Egypt’s Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expats’ Affairs Soha Gendi said coordination is under way with the bodies concerned to ensure the safety of all Egyptian expats in Sudan, especially students.
“We are well-prepared for all scenarios to protect their future,” Gendi added in a statement on Sunday, indicating that a 24/7 operations room had been following up on the situation in Sudan.
Most of the Egyptian students in Sudan, about 5,000 persons, live in Khartoum, making up one half of the Egyptian community in the country, the minister said.
She revealed that an online form had been launched for the Egyptian students to register their information so authorities can keep accurate record of their numbers and make up the plans needed to ensure their safety and security, while coordinating with the ministries concerned so that they would not miss this year’s exams, due soon.
The link to that form was sent to Egyptian students in Sudan through WhatsApp groups that serve as communication channels with these students, the minister pointed out.
