Head of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Osama Rabie said that the national project of the new Suez Canal, launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, had enabled the canal to receive more vessels and goods.
In statements to Al Masriya 1 TV channel on Wednesday, Rabie added that the canal now is able to receive 80-85 vessels.
He noted that the canal’s revenues had increased since January, noting that the revenues of the 2021-22 fiscal year reached $7 billion and that is the highest revenues ever.
He added that the oil tankers passing through the canal had increased by 60 per cent while the natural gas tankers increased by 31 per cent due to the Ukrainian crisis.
