CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El Din Mostafa had a meeting on Tuesday with representatives of India’s “Ashok Leyland” company to discuss bilateral co-operation in various domains.
During their meeting at the headquarters of the Military Production Ministry in the New Administrative Capital, the minister posted the company’s delegation on the manufacturing, technological, technical and human capabilities of military production companies and units.
They discussed joint co-operation between Helwan Company for Diesel Engines (Factory 909) and India’s “Ashok Leyland” company in the field of producing engines with different power outputs, ranging from 48 to 198 horsepower that are used in various industrial applications, including power generation units, water lifting devices and other applications.
For their part, representatives of India’s “Ashok Leyland” company said that the company was founded in 1948 and is a specialist in the area of manufacturing vehicles; trucks, buses, and light-duty trucks.
They underlined that military vehicles are produced by the company, and nearly 70% of the total vehicles used in the Indian army are manufactured by “Ashok Leyland” company.
They added that the company also manufactured diesel engines for various heavy-duty industrial applications and electric generators.
The company has 9 factories located in India, the United Arab Emirates and UK.
Ashok Leyland, flagship of the Hinduja group, is the 2nd largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in India, the 4th largest manufacturer of buses in the world, and the 19th largest manufacturers of trucks.
