The Mexican Embassy in Cairo celebrated Thursday Mexico’s 211th Independence Day, with a ceremony that was attended by a number of dignitaries and foreign diplomats.
Those attending included Deputy Foreign Minister for Latin American Affairs, Ashraf Mounir.
“Mexico celebrates 211 years of independent life,” Mexican Ambassador in Cairo Octavio Tripp said.
He added that his country has been exercising its sovereignty in the international system with dignity and responsibility for two centuries now.
Ambassador Mounir talked during the event, especially on Egyptian-Mexican relations and Mexican investments in Egypt.
He also talked about cultural exchange between the two countries.
The Mexican Embassy held the ceremony at Horreya Park in downtown Cairo’s Zamalek district.
A host of diplomats from several Latin American states also attended the event.
