CAIRO – Egypt’s Manpower Minister Mohamed Saafan held on Saturday a meeting with Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) office in Cairo Eric Oechslin.
They discussed steps taken to launch the national strategy for employment in Egypt.
They also probed the ministry’s readiness to hold elections of labor unions for the 2022/26 period.
Saafan said that his ministry is keen to cooperate with the organization’s office in Cairo to serve workers in Egypt.
The elections of labor unions for the 2022/2026 period will be held after Eidul Fitr, he noted.
For his part, Oechslin said the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the upcoming labor union elections and the national strategy for employment.
He added that the ILO is following up on the ministry’s efforts to draft the new labor bill in the Senate.
